Overview
Moon jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) are one of the most common species of jellyfish and are seen in coastal waters across the world. This species is the most common that is kept in captivity with well established husbandry methods. A beautiful species that proves to be a popular pet jellyfish. There are numerous strains of Aurelia aurita, with slight differences in their appearances and environmental requirements. The tropical strains are usually has more transparent and soft body, and harder to breed compared to temperate strains. The cold strain has purple tint on their body.

Notes: Moon jellyfish seem to have high tolerance for wide range of salinity and temperature but they are more tolerate to lower side of salinity and temperature. The optimum temperature are different between the strains, but most of them are not able to survive the temperature above 26°C. Feeding needs to be done daily to ensure their healthy growth.
